HUDCO Award 2012-13
Chhattisgarh Housing Board was today conferred with the prestigious HUDCO award for its remarkable work in fields of environmental management and energy efficiency through green building concept. The board has been chosen for the HUDCO Design award 2012-13 under the ‘green building’ category for applying ‘green building concept’ in construction of buildings for Chhattisgarh State Electricity Regulatory Commission and CREDA.This is the third consecutive national award for the board in a year. Earlier, the board had bagged HUDCO award for social housing and EPC award for affordable housing.
Chhattisgarh Housing Development Board Chairman Subhash Rao and Housing Board Commissioner Sonmoni Borah received the award from Union Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation Secretary A. K. Misra here. HUDCO Chairman and Managing Director V. P. Baligar and Additional Secretary Sushil Kumar were also present at the function. Mr. Rao, after receiving the award, said such awards indicate that housing projects, started by the board under the guidance of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh, have been getting country-wide recognition. Attributing the success of the board to Chief Minister Raman Singh, Mr. Borah said the board has succeeded in providing affordable houses to poor merely because the chief minister has provided lands on concessional rates for developing such housing projects.
He informed that all the residential housing complexes developed by the housing board will have eco-friendly sewage treatment plant, solar energy, underground sewage system and water harvesting facilities.He added that in the next three years one lakh houses will be constructed under the ‘Atal Vihar Awas Yojna’ with an investment of Rs 11,000 crore for weaker sections. He further said that 84 per cent of the houses constructed by the board and exclusively meant for LIG and EWS. The office building constructed on green concept will be known for being the first net-positive solar energy building in the country. The three-storeyed building has been constructed on a sprawling plot of 25824 sq ft with a built up area of 22300 sq ft. The building has parking, water supply, landscaping, lift, staircase, lightning, air conditioning and other facilities. The green building concept will help in reducing cumulative energy expenditure to the tune of about 45% in summer and about 15% in winter.
