EPC World Award 2012-13
Chhattisgarh Housing Board today bagged the prestigious EPC World Awards 2012 for outstanding contribution in affordable housing project. Chhattisgarh Housing Board Chairman Subhash Rao and Chhattisgarh Housing Board Commissioner Sonmoni Borah received the award from Union minister for water Resources Shree Harish Rawat and MP Shree Balbir Punj at a function held in Ashoka Hotel here. Urban Development Secretary Shree Shdheer Krishna and CEO of Mumbai - Delhi Industrial corridor were also present.
Congratulating the Board for the award, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh said housing revolution in the state has achieved new heights. Housing and Environment Minister Rajesh Munat also congratulated the board, saying the board has provided housing facilities to lower and middle income groups and economically weaker sections on priority basis. Chief Secretary Sunil Kumar and Principal Secretary N. Baijendra Kumar appreciated the efforts of officers and employees in bringing revolution in housing sector.
Atal Vihar Yojana has been started to construct one lakh houses in all the districts of the state. Out of the total houses constructed, 85 per cent of the houses were meant for economically weaker sections and lower income groups. EPC World, an esteemed monthly publication on infrastructure and construction, has been awarding companies and individual for exceptional contribution in infrastructure and construction sector for the last two years.
Receiving the award at the 3rd edition of EPC World award, Chhattisgarh Housing Board Chairman Subhash Rao said the board has succeeded in realizing every individual’s dream of having a home by providing houses at affordable rates. The housing board has constructed 52,770 houses with basic facilities at the cost of Rs 3,000 crore in the last 8 years under various housing schemes such as Atal awas Yojana, Deendayal Awas Yojana, Kushabhau Thakre Awas Yojana and general housing scheme. Chhattisgarh Housing Board Commissioner Sonmoni Borah said quality and affordable houses have been constructed for general category as well. He said one lakh houses having eco-friendly features will be constructed under Atal Vihar Yojanaduring the next three years at estimated cost of Rs 11000 crore. The board is constructing many residential colonies in Naya Raipur, he said. Chhattisgarh Housing Board was awarded HUDCO best practice national award 2011-12 for its initiative to provide homes to poor, the low and middle income groups at an affordable price through various housing projects.
